What Should Students Expect?

After check-in, students will meet with one of the Aquarium's educators who will introduce the week's topic. Students will then partake in hands-on, educational activity stations, supervised by an educator. Supplemental materials will be available to guide learning during the activity. There will be an opportunity to meet one of our animal ambassadors and tour the Aquarium at your leisure.

• Your Homeschool Day Admission Ticket is only good for the day printed on the ticket. (Click on the attachment to view your tickets.)
• Parking is available both on the street and in the CTA parking garage.
  • CTA charges a fee to park in their garage, Address: 1401 20th Ave, Gulfport, MS 39501
  • Street parking is available; be aware of 1 hour parking signage
• No refunds, no rainchecks
• Annual Pass Holders do not receive a discount on Homeschool Day Tickets.
• Your homeschool day ticket will allow you to stay in the park all day after the event ends.

Dive Deeper into learning with this in-classroom program that focuses on the specific topic of the month. Each day offered will include a lesson and a hands-on lab activity.

Learning Labs last approximately 1 hours and geared towards K-5th Graders.

Must be booked in advance! Maximum of 35 participants each day.

August 19th

Topic: Deep Sea: Dive into the Dark Zone!

Students will dive into the wonders of the deep sea by exploring ocean layers, inventing mystery creatures, and uncovering how colors vanish underwater. They experiment with pressure using marshmallows and syringes and meet glowing animals from the darkest depths. This underwater adventure blends creativity and science to spark curiosity about life far below the waves.

September 9th

Topic: Sharks - Jawsome Shark Fun!

Students will plunge into shark science fun by measuring mega‑shark sizes, testing buoyancy, and sorting out whether a finned friend is a shark or a dolphin. They get hands‑on with shark teeth and uncover the surprising species cruising through our own Gulf waters.

October 14th

Topic: World of Birds: Feathered Friends and Beaky Buddies!

World of Birds: Feathered Friends gives students a lively introduction to how birds grow, eat, move, and communicate. Through interactive stations, children explore bird bodies, compare beaks, discover wing shapes, match babies to adults, and identify calls. The experience blends play and learning to spark curiosity about the feathered world.

November 11th

Topic: Keystone Species: Nature's Super Helpers!

Keystone Species Homeschool Day invites students to uncover the powerhouse animals that hold entire ecosystems together. Through creative, hands‑on stations, they explore how these “ecosystem MVPs” shape habitats, spark ripple effects, and support countless other species. It’s a lively mix of science and discovery that turns students into champions for the natural world.
