Sponsored Admission for Instruction and Learning

Project SAIL (Sponsored Admission for Instruction and Learning) is an initiative to ensure that diverse audiences, regardless of economic status, have an opportunity to participate in the Aquarium’s on-site educational programs at no cost to the school. Title I schools in Mississippi are eligible to apply for funds to cover the admission costs associated with instructor-led or self-guided field trips. In some cases, transportation costs may also be covered. Project SAIL is funded by the generosity of corporations, foundations, and individuals who support Mississippi Aquarium educational programming through charitable donations.

To maximize the opportunities for deserving students, Mississippi Aquarium will sponsor a maximum number of students from a single school per calendar year and the number of chaperones needed to maintain mandatory supervision ratios (i.e., 1:5 for grades K-2 or 1:10 for grades 3-12). The sponsorship may be applied to admission costs for instructor-led or self-guided field trips.

Teachers or administrators from schools, where the percentage of low-income students exceeds 50%, may apply on behalf of their respective groups.
