Animal Care

Aquatic Biologist I

The position requires a highly motivated individual who will work in a team setting and take direction from the Curators, Managers, Area Supervisors in carrying out the animal care routine and maintenance for an assigned set of habitats and/or holding tanks. The position will also be responsible for maintaining organized written records pertaining to health, feeding, water quality, animal welfare and behavioral observations. This position is responsible for adhering to all aquarium safety, protocols, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) accreditation standards.

Senior Animal Care Specialist/Marine Mammals

Facility Operations

Facility Operator

The position reports to the Manager of Facility Operations. The Facility Operator is responsible for performing equipment maintenance tasks, cleaning, and general labor pertaining to animal life support systems and building mechanical systems. The ability to make accurate assessments of filter status and the cleaning schedule of filters is essential. Basic operational knowledge of building maintenance and mechanical systems is necessary for this position.

Housekeeper | Part Time

The position requires a self-motivated and dedicated individual who will take direction from the Director of Facility Operations and the Housekeeping Lead, and is responsible for the proper implementation of daily requirements for the cleanliness of the facility.

Ticketing Ambassador | Part Time

Ticket Ambassadors are the first team members to interact with guests. Ambassadors warmly greet and assist guests with purchases as well as scan tickets and membership cards at Entry Plaza. They serve as a welcoming team member for all guests entering and help maintain crowd control.

Dive Team

Dive Team Member

The position requires a dedicated individual who will take direction from the Dive Safety Officer, the Director of Facility Operations, and the VP of Facilities Operations in carrying out the duties of the position. The Dive Team Member assists the Dive Safety Officer with the planning, development and administration of all SCUBA diving programs which includes all water related activities requiring water entry, both in-house and in open water. Dive Safety, communications, animal health, equipment repair, record keeping, and visitor experience are the driving priorities in accomplishing the goals of this position.

Interpreter II

Interpreters communicate the stories of our natural and cultural resources in zoos, aquariums, and park settings, facilitation opportunities of discovery, and understanding about the world around us. Therefore, interpreters act as the bridge to connect guests to these resources through meaningful, inspiring experiences. Our mission at the Mississippi Aquarium is to be a premier institution delivering an awe-inspiring entertainment experience that supports animal research and conservation, inspires learning, and instills a passion for the aquatic world. The Interpreter II will enhance the guest experience at the Mississippi Aquarium by teaching about the habitats and animals found in Mississippi, the Gulf Coast, and beyond. Qualified individuals should have extensive experience in public speaking and a high level of comfort in interpreting static and live exhibits as well as presenting presentations, tours, and educational programs. The Interpreter II will interact with guests of all ages and diverse backgrounds as well as work alongside the other members of the Guest Experience and Education Team.

Camp Counselor

Camp Counselors are part of the Education team at Mississippi Aquarium that help create and lead high-quality, meaningful learning experiences for Camp Aqua participants. Counselors execute daily activities that are fun, engaging, and interactive. Camp Counselors supervise children and enforce safety guidelines. This position allows candidates to gain experience in STEAM-driven education and hospitality. Camp Counselors strive to inspire environmental stewardship and the importance of animal conservation.

Interpreter I | Seasonal

Interpreters communicate the stories of our natural and cultural resources in zoos, aquariums, and park settings by facilitating opportunities of discovery, and understanding of the natural world. Therefore, interpreters act as the bridge to connect guests to these resources through meaningful, inspiring experiences. At Mississippi Aquarium, the Interpreter I will be responsible for educating guests on the static and live exhibits as well as engaging guests about relevant conservation efforts along the Gulf Coast. Interpreters will use their public speaking skills to conduct various tours, sleepovers, and public presentations, while providing exceptional customer service. Interpreters will interact daily with people of diverse backgrounds and ages.
