Mississippi Aquarium offers exciting opportunities for youth in grades K-5 to explore the brown, blue and beyond through educational outreach programs for summer camps, schools, groups and more! Our Aquarium Education Specialists will bring STEAM based, hands-on educational, entertaining and interactive learning to your classrooms, libraries and community centers. Programs are designed for children of varying ages and abilities.

SHARKS:
DIVING INTO THE DEEP

Throughout history, sharks have been the subject of fear and fascination. Although they are often misunderstood, these creatures play a very important role in their environment. Dive into the world of sharks and become inspired for ocean conservation.

Plants, animals and you!

In this lesson, students will gain a better understanding of the similarities and differences in the life cycles of plants and animals.

With over 10,000 + species, reptiles are a large and diverse group of animals. This lesson will explore the adaptations and unique characteristics of Snakes, Lizards, Crocodilians, Turtles, and more!

LOCOMOTION:
Animals on the move

Animals get from one place to another in many different ways. Some use wings to fly, while others have legs to climb, jump, swim or walk. Some animals do not have legs at all! In this lesson we will discuss the different types of animal locomotion.

THE WEB OF LIFE AND ENERGY

Students will learn about energy in food webs. Discover the role of the sun and explore a world of producers, consumers and decomposers in the energy cycle.
