Celebrate Our Oceans

Join Mississippi Aquarium as we dive deeper into all things marine as we celebrate World Oceans Day!

Activities and educational presentations will be held across campus to highlight ocean research and conservation, as we support WorldOceanDay.org's 2022 focus of Protect 30 by 30, which aims to protect 30% of our blue planet by 2030.

Featured Guests Hosts:

Program for Local Adaptation to Climate Effects: Sea Level Rise (PLACE:SLR)
Learn about rising sea levels! This group is led by Dr. Renee Collini from Sea Grant/ MSU Coastal Extension.

Northern Gulf Institute (NGI)
Get hands-on with outreach activities about ocean research.

Manatee Sighting Network (Dauphin Island Sea Lab)
Learn about Manatees and how to aid in their conservation.


On-Campus Activities from 10am to 4pm:

WATER WATER EVERYWHERE @ LOWER RIVER HABITAT
An exploration into the effects of pollution on our waters and the animals that inhabit them.

THERMOREGULATION STATION @ LOWER DOLPHIN HABITAT
Explore how blubber helps keep marine mammals warm in cool waters.

DEGRADATION NATION @ AQUATIC WONDERS BY BIG WINDOW
Learn about ocean plastics, how to keep the oceans clean, and how to support #Protect30x30 through information and hands-on activity.

OCEAN DENSITY @ SWIRL HABITAT
Learn about the density of salt water and how that density changes worldwide.

MAKING WAVES @ CHANGING TIDES
Come lend us a "hand" in creating our community art project in our commitment to be the change to SEA the change!
