A freelance artist based in Mississippi, Carisa Mitchell creates artwork influenced by her rural surroundings. Carisa takes a representational approach to creating art emphasizing the beauty of the subject, while exploring light, color, and interactions.
For over two decades, Carisa maintains her devotion to her art career continuing to create a visual of surroundings and explorations, sharing her abilities through paintings and instruction. A graduate of Mississippi College, Carisa completed a Master of Education with an emphasis in studio art and a Master of Fine Art in two-dimensional design. Afterwards teaching college level art including art appreciation, art history, and studio classes for several years. Carisa has associate status with Oil Painters of America, American Women Artists, and American Impressionist Society. She is also a member of the Mississippi Art Education Association. Currently, she works from her home studio.
