Position Summary

The Marketing Manager, Media and Promotions contributes to the success of Mississippi Aquarium and its financial sustainability by raising awareness through paid media placement. Paid media is an essential component of the Aquarium’s revenue growth and includes digital, traditional and OOH media. This position is responsible for the development and execution of an effective media plan and budget specifically tailored for each channel and the creation of media promotion.

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or design
  • Minimum 5 years of marketing experience with an emphasis in media and design
  • Exceptional organization skills
  • Attention to detail with strong verbal, writing and editing skills
  • Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly
  • Ability to effectively build relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Ability to effectively present information publicly
  • Ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions
  • Knowledge of media channels
  • Flexible work schedule including weekends, evenings and holidays
  • Ability to travel
  • Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism, standards, integrity and confidentiality
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and Adobe Creative Suite

  • Analyze media research and create an effective media strategy
  • Establish and monitor performance benchmarks and media cost
  • Evaluate media efforts results and prepare measures of success
  • Recommend marketing management on media policies development for maximum effectiveness
  • Collaborate with all departments to optimize investment return for advertising management and media planning
  • Research and remain updated on latest media trends
  • Identify opportunities and evolving issues and interpret new technologies along with consumer reaction
  • Develop detailed understanding of media measurement as well as evaluation standards
  • Manage and maintain media budgets, negotiate trade agreements, implement authorized plans, media payments and purchase orders
  • Collaborate with business and media partners to create media promotions to include media, POS, contests and grass roots marketing
  • Ensure approve payment invoices and advertising billing; work with suppliers for billing issues and dispute resolution
  • Manage entire media budge activities, maintain precise spending estimates and update as required
  • Coordinate media promotions to include documentaries and special broadcasts
  • Write creative copy for commercials and advertisements
  • Create graphics for advertisements as needed
