Position Title: Inside Sales Manager, Groups and Education

Department: Sales and Marketing

Classification: Exempt  

Direct Report: Director of Sales

Position Summary

The Groups and Education Inside Sales Manager position contributes to the success of Mississippi Aquarium and its financial sustainability by helping to generate increased attendance and revenue through ticket, educational programs and program sales.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or hospitality
  • Minimum 2 years of sales experience, preferably business to business
  • Organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines and goals
  • Attention to detail with strong verbal, writing and editing skills
  • Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly
  • Ability to effectively build relationships with clients, guests and colleagues
  • Ability to effectively present information publicly
  • Ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions
  • Knowledge of sales channels and markets
  • Flexible work schedule including nights, weekends, holidays and travel
  • Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism, standards, integrity and confidentiality
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and customer management software

Responsibilities

  • Deliver the highest degree of courtesy and professionalism regarding customer inquiries pertaining to field trips, educational programs and birthday parties.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly sales reports
  • Increase revenue by up-selling products and programs to all groups
  • Utilize the Aquarium sales software to track activity, collect and input data and manage accounts
  • Work directly with multiple departments to schedule and coordinate events
  • Ensure that groups are properly serviced and receive top quality attention and assistance
  • Maintain relationships with decision makers to ensure continued partnership and success
  • Represent Mississippi Aquarium at various trade shows and expos when needed
  • Ensure all payments and deposits are received and enter payment information into the Aquarium billing system
