Contractors have been hard at work creating the Mississippi Aquarium in downtown Gulfport.
The aquarium will not only bring hundreds of aquatic wonders like alligators, otters, and dolphins to the Coast, but it will also bring economic growth.
President and CEO of the Mississippi Aquarium David Kimmel spoke to a group of Coast business leaders this morning and laid out a full run down of exactly what this tourist attract will do for the area.
Kimmel tells News 25 there will be a minimum of 60 jobs created at the aquarium plus another 40 to 50 part time jobs will become available as well. “But the aquarium brings in 487,000 people that means people going to restaurants, people staying in hotels, people buying things, those people that have to support those industries. All in all, over 700 jobs minimum being created by the Mississippi Aquarium.”
The aquarium is still on track to open late 2019 or early 2020.
